Who you deal with

I'm Jonathan. 8th Layer Solutions is me. I build your site, I answer your emails, and I make your edits. There is no account manager and no one to hand you off to.

I work with trade and service businesses in the western Chicago suburbs: Carol Stream, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Bloomingdale, Glendale Heights, Addison, Lombard, West Chicago and Winfield.

What I did before

My background is custom applications, connecting business systems to each other, moving documents between systems, and reporting. Recent work includes a full SharePoint migration.

That work taught me that software is only useful if someone keeps it running after launch. That is why every site I build comes with hosting, a monthly check and small edits.

Why I build the site first

You are busy on jobs. You don't have time for a sales pitch about a website you can't see. So I build it first, with your own services, photos and reviews, and you judge it on your phone.

The name

It comes from the OSI model, which describes computer networks in 7 layers. People in IT call the person using the system the 8th layer. That is who I build for.
